Seminar on Sustainable Finance – 28 March 2025

The event, organized by Prof. Luca Spataro and Prof. Thomas I. Renstrom, lecturers of Economics of Saving and ESG Investing, featured Dr. Massimo Scolari, Manager at Conformis in Finance (Milan), as keynote speaker.

Dr. Scolari’s lecture explored the evolving landscape of ESG investing and the growing importance of sustainability-driven financial strategies. Drawing on official data and regulatory documents from European institutions, he examined how the EU Action Plan on Sustainable Finance, the European Green Deal, and recent regulatory frameworks such as the SFDRCSRD, and EU Taxonomy are reshaping the role of finance in addressing climate change.

During his presentation, Dr. Scolari also discussed the trends in capital flows towards sustainability, highlighting how European companies are increasingly aligning investments with environmental objectives and transparency standards. In the final part of the seminar, he focused on the relationship between ESG performance and financial performance, referencing empirical evidence that links responsible investment practices to improved long-term returns and reduced risk exposure.

This seminar offered students and participants an insightful overview of how finance can be a key driver of the green transition, providing analytical and practical perspectives on the integration of sustainability within the financial sector.

The event was held as part of the activities promoted by the BEYOND Project (2024–1–IT02–KA220-HED–000251303), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, within the framework of the KA2 Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education.
