In February 2025, a new teaching initiative directly linked to the objectives of the Erasmus+ BEYOND Project – Boosting and Enhancing Youngs’ Next generation awareness for ESG values Development was launched at the University of Pisa.
The course, titled “Economics of Saving and ESG Investing”, is part of the Master’s Degree Programme in Economics, jointly offered by the Department of Economics and Management and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. Taught in English by Prof. Luca Spataro and Prof. Thomas I. Renström, the course explores how savings and investment decisions can integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to support sustainable economic growth.
Beyond its theoretical foundations, the course features guest lectures from industry professionals and financial institutions, as well as active participation of students in case studies and project work. This hands-on approach aims to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of ESG-related skills, enhancing students’ understanding of how sustainability can be embedded in financial strategies and corporate decision-making.
By combining academic knowledge with practical insights, this initiative contributes to the BEYOND project’s broader mission to empower young generations with the competences needed for the green and just transition in Europe.
Presentations of the students will be uploaded in the Resource Center.
